Plan the hierarchy

Build the tree from broad to specific. Available types include Site, Building, Hall, Floor, Room, Zone, Rack, Shelf, Position, Parking and Other.

Create a location

1. Open Locations and select the parent node where the new location belongs.
2. Add a clear name, short code and location type.
3. Confirm the parent and mark the location active.
4. Save, then inspect the displayed path before assigning resources.

Work with the tree

• Expand a branch to inspect nested locations and inventory.
• Move or edit locations carefully; Operations prevents parent cycles.
• Deactivate locations that should remain in history but are no longer used.
• A location that is referenced by resources or child nodes may need those dependencies resolved before deletion.

Print a location label

Print the QR label and attach it at the real physical location. Scanning it opens the Put Back Here workflow, where staff can return labeled resources to that location.

Home versus current location

Home location records where a resource belongs. Current location records where it is now. A return can update current location without changing the resource's long-term home.
