PDF Print Options

 

Overview

 

The application provides advanced PDF export capabilities for both Scripts and Rundowns. You can access printing from multiple places in the interface and generate PDFs with flexible layout, timing, and content options.

 

Accessing the Print Function

You can open the print dialog from:

 

  • Rundown toolbar: Click Print in the main rundown action bar

  • Sidebar: Right-click a rundown and choose Print

  • Keyboard shortcut: Press CTRL + P while viewing a rundown

 

 

Script Print

Exports the full script content with formatting and production elements.

 

Includes

  • Full script text with formatting preserved

  • Production tags: Input, Server, Graphic, Sound, Light, Props, Instructions

  • Side notes with color coding

  • Page headers showing story title and sequence number

  • Automatic page breaks with header continuation

 

Options

  • Print range selection (From and To stories)

  • Include or exclude Items (production tags)

  • Include or exclude Sidenotes

  • Paper size: A4, A5

  • Orientation: Portrait, Landscape

  • Font size: 8 to 20 pt

 

 

Rundown Print

 

Exports a condensed table overview of the rundown, including timing.

 

Includes

  • Tabular layout with story numbers and titles

  • Timing columns: Manual, Text, Total, Accumulated time

  • Start and end times

  • Sub-items (tags, notes, comments) listed under main stories with indentation

  • Color-coded story rows by category

  • Automatic pagination with page numbers

 

Options

  • Time column selection:

    • Time (accumulated or clock time)

    • Manual (manual reading time)

    • Text (voice-over or text time)

    • Total (combined time)

  • Content filters:

    • Items (production tags)

    • Sidenotes

  • Category filters for Items:

    • Input (Camera)

    • Server

    • Graphic

    • Sound

    • Light

    • Props

    • Instruction

  • Category filters for Sidenotes:

    • All categories above plus Normal

  • Layout options:

    • Paper size: A4, A5

    • Orientation: Portrait, Landscape

    • Font size: 8 to 20 pt

 

Using the Print Dialog

 

Select Print Type

  • Choose Script or Rundown

 

Set Print Range (Script only)

  • Select a starting story from the dropdown

  • Select an ending story from the dropdown

  • All stories between these selections are included

 

Configure Time Options

  • Check or uncheck time columns as needed

  • Accumulated time shows clock time based on the rundown start time

  • Total is the sum of manual and text time

 

Content Options

  • Items: Include production tags in the output

  • Sidenotes: Include production notes in the output

 

Apply Filters (Rundown only)

  • Expand Items to filter by category

  • Expand Sidenotes to filter by type

  • Unchecked categories are excluded from the PDF

 

Layout Settings

  • Paper: A4 or A5

  • Orientation: Portrait or Landscape

  • Font size: 8 to 20 points (default: 12)

 

Generate PDF

  • Click Print to generate

  • Click Cancel to close without printing

  • Press Enter to generate quickly

  • Press Escape to cancel

 

PDF Output Details

Headers

  • Script: Story number and title on each page, except the first page

  • Rundown: Rundown title centered at the top

 

Footers

  • Left: Rundown title

  • Center: Print timestamp (DD/MM/YYYY HH:MM)

  • Right: Page numbers (Page X / Total)

 

Time Display

  • Rundown footer includes planned end time when time columns are enabled

  • All times are formatted as HH:MM:SS

  • Accumulated time is calculated from the rundown start time

 

Sub-items

  • Tags and notes are numbered as sub-items (for example 1.1, 1.2)

  • Sub-items are indented in both Script and Rundown views

  • Asset names are automatically cleaned (file extensions removed)

 

Settings Persistence

The print dialog remembers your last settings, including:

  • Print type preference

  • Time column selections

  • Items and sidenotes inclusion

  • Category filters

  • Layout preferences (paper, orientation, font size)

Settings are saved automatically and restored when reopening the dialog.

 

 

Tips

  • Use Landscape for Rundowns with many time columns

  • Larger font sizes work better for A5

  • Filter categories before printing to reduce PDF size

  • Script print is best for detailed work, Rundown print is best for overview

  • Use print range to output specific sections without affecting the full rundown
